FrostDDesigns

The items that we make vary from useful to architectural to conversation pieces. What we make is totally random and we do not make pieces to order. That said, if you like something that we sold to someone else, let us know and we will try to make something similar or in the same design type that you may or may not like the next time we are deciding what to make. Woodworking creates singular pieces that cannot be perfectly replicated, no matter how hard you try there will be subtle differences. This is why we love woodworking.

The item description contains a detailed description of the item, the wood used, the finish used, and the overall dimensions. Even though we try to use food safe finishes, we cannot be 100% that an item is food safe. So, assume each item is not food safe, so we do not recommend using the bowls to eat cereal, etc.

We do our best to describe flaws in the item, show detailed photos of areas that have cracks, mostly due to expansion and contraction of the wood. We do our best to stabilize these areas, but this expansion and contraction will continue to happen over the lifetime of the item. Most items do well, but some items that have cracks do experience further cracking or cracking in a different place. Usually, the cracks are small and add to the overall esthetic of the piece, but if you experience something that ruins your enjoyment of an item, let us know with our contact form and we will discuss what can be done to make it right. That said, wood moves depending on the humidity level surrounding it. If your home is very dry or overly humid the wood will contract or expand respectively and maybe wood items are not for you right now.

The final point on the condition of an item is that each item is made of a natural product that has defects and imperfections built into it. Your item may have holes in it from a former tenant, it may have holes in it because that is where the center of the tree/branch was, or it may have a crack, nick or scratch that we didn’t see or couldn’t sand out. The photos and description should give you enough of an idea of what these imperfections are, so you are buying the item as it is today. However, the imperfections can become the feature points of an item and the item would be a bland box store purchase without some of these “flaws”.

We include measurements in all the descriptions, which is useful for the smaller pieces. Please read the description in full as your enjoyment of an item depends on having a realistic idea of the size compared to where you want to display it. Also, the categories are a dead giveaway. “Small Bowls” are indeed very small, just big enough in some cases to hold a ring or two. Each photo includes a brass item tag with the item number on it. People have asked about whether the item tag comes with the piece. We use the tags for inventory tracking and they are not included in the sale.

We try to price things consistently across items. Our formula takes into account the size of the item, the time invested, materials, and the type of wood. We love each piece we create and will keep every item if you don’t buy them. Woodworking is fun and selling things is kind of heartbreaking, but we are certain that anyone buying these items will treat them well and anyone gifting them to others are gifting them to someone special who will do the same. Thank you for visiting our store!
