Item 034 is an awesome writing box. I love making these sets. I don’t make them often because they take so much time to make all of the components. The box is made from red oak and a walnut top (all wood locally sourced in Virginia and Maryland from downed trees).
What’s in the Box?!!
The removable tray is red oak with a walnut handle and black epoxy inlay. The “ink well” is the cutest tiny bowl made from walnut. Included are two walnut nib pens turned on the lathe and a small box made from white oak with a starter set of post-it notes.
This item measures 4 inches tall, 5 inches deep and 12 ½ inches long overall. The tray is 7 ¾ inches long, 4 inches wide and ¾ inch thick. The pens are 7 inches long and ½ inch wide at the widest spot. The adorable bowl is 2 inches tall and 1 ½ inches wide. The small box measures 3 5/8 wide 4 inches deep and 1 5/8 tall.
The box has a locking hinge support and a fancy clasp and hinge set. This box is finished with shellac and polished with a mixture of mineral oil and beeswax.
