Only 1 available

This spalted walnut bowl weighs in at a hefty 8.6 ounces, is 4 ¾ inches wide and 2 ½ inches tall with a bowl depth of 1 7/8 inches. The bowl has an eased lip and a rounded foot detail. The interior sides are bowl-shaped while the exterior sides are curvy. The spalting can be seen at the lip of the bowl as an ellipse with other lines.

While turning the piece the central knot on both sides destabilized and I had a choice to throw it away or make the best of it, so I took some off-cuts and fitted them in the broken places, stabilizing the knots in the process. When I turned the bowl to its finished size, the new pieces were incorporated as if they always belonged.

The bowl is finished with a glossy coating of shellac and polished with bees wax and mineral oil. The bottom is the raw wood finished with bees wax and mineral oil.

This bowl is a display piece and because it is heavier than most bowls its size,
